MINTIVO

Meet Emie, one of our female IT Engineers

Emie, born in the Philippines, came to the United Kingdom when she was 16 years old.  Her grit, determination and not to mention a deal of talent, helped her to study for three years at Wiltshire College in order to achieve the UK qualifications she needed to be able to study for her computing degree at the University of West of England.

Now living in Chippenham, Emie has always loved the latest gadgets and using IT for research and supporting people from a very young age. She can’t remember when she didn’t want to work in the IT world. She says her passion has grown further as she has developed her skills and learnt about new technologies and how they can help support businesses.

I asked Emie why she enjoys her job at Mintivo.  She told me

I’m working with professional colleagues, who are interesting to be around and make the atmosphere in the office brilliant. I am amazed with the knowledge and skill sets my colleagues have which helps me to provide better support to my clients. It is so different from other places I have worked. I like the way Mintivo has grown and I’m proud to be part of the continued progression of the business.”

Outside work, Emie particularly enjoys travelling and food. Her favourite place to visit to date has been IcelandUnfortunately, she missed out on seeing the Northern Lights, so she is determined to go back to see this natural phenomenon. She loves eating out, but also cooking her own dishes, many of which are Filipino recipes, particularly dessertsEmie keeps up to date with her passions by watching food and travel vlogs on YouTube.

Her ideal night out would be watching a thriller or horror movie followed by a meal of lamb chops with rice, accompanied by banana ketchup and a glass of Barefoot Pink Moscato followed by a delicious Filipino dessert. If she’s staying in, she’ll listen to chill-out music or acoustic covers whilst reading a good book or checking out YouTube.

A great advocate for women in technology, Emie was delighted to receive feedback from a female Remote Input Output Service Manager:

“Thank you, Emie. Great to have a female IT person helping me out!  Always been men previously.”
